The Brunton Restore™ is a compact solar charger designed to keep your personal electronics charged when you’re away from an outlet— no matter how long you’re unplugged.
Electronics have become part of everyone’s daily kit. Keeping them charged while out in the field can be a concern. It need not be. With the Brunton Restore, you’ll never need to worry about being left powerless and won’t need to pack a load of extra batteries.
The Restore is a hybrid integrated solar charger. It is an ingenious design that acts as both a power storage unit and solar power generator. Measuring just 5.5” x 3” x 1.25” and weighing only 8.6 ounces including charging cable, the Restore stores easily in a pack or glove compartment.
Designed for outdoor use, the Restore features a tough all-weather shell and is easy to use. It has a rubberized casing that provides a secure grip as well as impact protection.
The Restore features an internal rechargeable 2,200 eco-friendly lithium polymer battery that provides ample stored power to recharge personal electronic devices multiple times. The recharging capability of a fully charged Restore varies depending on the device to be recharged. For example, standard cell phones can typically be recharged two to three times with one fully charged Restore, while smart phones can be recharged one or two times. This is more than enough ower for most real-world situations. The lithium battery can be recharged approximately 500 times.
The Restore works with any device that can be charged by a variant of USB, including cell phones, smart phones, Bluetooth headsets, electronic compasses, GPS units, MP3 players, digital cameras, etc. The Restore can also be used in conjunction with a USB AA/AAA battery charger (not included) to recharge rechargeable AA or AAA batteries.
The Restore has a 1,000 mAh output to charge devices faster. Charge time will vary depending on the specific device. For example, a cell phone can be recharged in approximately one to two hours. A red LED light from the on/off power button indicates that the unit is being used to power another electronic device. Blue LED power indicator lights show the percentage of charge in the unit. The Restore shuts off automatically when the device is fully charged.
The Restore’s lithium battery charges from two integrated solar panels, a computer USB port, or the included automobile cigarette lighter adapter. The Restore flips open to expose the solar panels.
Depending upon the amount of sun, a full charge takes about a day using the solar panels in direct sunlight, longer on overcast days. The Restore can be fully charged in about two hours with the car charger and four hours via USB 2.0. A green charge LED flashes when the unit is charging.
The Brunton Restore is a great tool, one that I plan on keeping with me on every trip. It could be a lifesaver when a dead cell phone versus a charged one is what makes the difference in an emergency. It will also save you money. According to Brunton, one Restore is the equivalent of 1,372 AA batteries, saving $1,500—and the environment as well.
The Brunton Restore has an MSRP of $120. It is available in black, orange and blue, and comes with a one-year warranty.
